The international Warp Convention that should have been located in Trondheim has unfortunately been postponed, due to a recommendation from the prior head of the Warp Convention comity.

The Norwegian Trekkers association (Trekkers Norway) is a small organisation with small economical abilities. When the ambition on the convention was at the level of NOK 300.000,- and our own financial ability was only about NOK 50.000,- there were trouble delivering the promised Warp Convention. The prior Warp Convention comity has our full understanding, and respect for telling us at such a early time that they were not able to arrange Warp 2008 in Trondheim.

In mind of the expectation of our members, the board of Trekkers Norway, decided to leave the job to arrange something the same week-end to another local unit, instead of just postponing Warp 2008. We want action, and we want to satisfy our members. The unit in Oslo, Oslo Trekkers, volunteered to arrange a smaller convention the weekend from September 12 to September 14.

Due to only a few months preparation Oslo Trekkers have adjusted the plans for a full international Warp convention covering every SciFi genres to a national convention with focus on Star Trek only. The new convention is now located in Oslo. Because of the relocation, we have also lost some sponsors, and have to adjust our budget to match this. Every international guest stars have of this reason been cancelled and this leaves us with only one domestic icon, the king of astrophysic: Mr. Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard.

Despite this, Oslo Trekkers intends to give it all to create a magnificent convention.

* There will be a lottery, and a auction, and a Star Trek shop
* Costume party with a prize for best costume
* Karaoke and a “Klingon opera”-contest
* A full dinner with Star Trek dishes
* Of course a lot of Star Trek episodes
* News on “Star Trek XI”
* And a lot of other Trekkers to get to know

Warp 2.8 will not be advertised internationally, but it’s allowed to let the jungle telegraph to drum. There is no present pre-registration of tickets to Warp 2.8. And due to that the location not yet has been booked, the prices for a full Warp 2.8-ticket or a day-ticket have not been calculated.
